CalX Homes is a licensed general contractor handling every phase of residential construction — from a single-room renovation to a house built new from bare dirt. One contract, one crew, one point of contact.
We self-manage the whole scope rather than handing you off between specialists. That means the framer, the electrician, and the tile setter all answer to the same schedule.
Taking a dated house back to the studs and rebuilding it as something that works for how you actually live. Our most common project type.
More square footage without leaving the neighborhood. We handle the structural engineering and permitting alongside the build.
Custom homes built from the ground up on an empty or cleared lot — site work through final inspection.
Accessory dwelling units for rental income, family, or a home office. We work through the current California ADU rules with you.
The two rooms that change daily life the most. Cabinetry, stone, tile, and fixtures coordinated as one package.
Rebuilding after a loss, including work alongside your insurance adjuster and scope documentation.
The work behind the walls that makes everything else possible — and keeps a house standing through the next earthquake.
Curb appeal and the systems that protect the house from water — usually the last phase, and the one people remember.
The same process whether it's a bathroom or a whole house — the timeline just changes.
We walk the property, talk through how you want to use the space, and produce drawings and a line-item budget. Permits and engineering get sorted before anyone swings a hammer.
One dedicated project lead, a posted schedule, and trades we've worked with for years. You always know what's happening on site this week and what comes next.
We obsess over alignment, sightlines, and lighting, then walk you through every system in the house — with warranties and manuals in one place.
From San Jose up through Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Atherton. Staying regional means our crews and trades are on your job, not stuck in traffic across the state.
Outside this list? Get in touch anyway — we take select projects further out.
Yes. CalX Homes holds California contractor license CSLB #1128884 and carries liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage. You can verify our license status directly on the CSLB website.
Yes. We manage plan sets, structural engineering, and the permit process with your city as part of the project. On most jobs we're the ones sitting in plan review, not you.
Most full remodels run several months on site, with permitting and design ahead of that. Timelines vary considerably with scope, city review speed, and material lead times — we give you a real schedule after we've seen the property and drawings, not a guess on the phone.
Sometimes, depending on scope. Room-by-room renovations often allow it. A whole-home remodel with the kitchen, plumbing, and electrical all opened up usually doesn't. We'll tell you honestly which situation you're in during the planning phase.
You get a line-item budget rather than a single lump figure, so you can see where money is going and make tradeoffs. Changes get written up and approved before the work happens — no surprise line items at the end.
Regularly. We collaborate with outside architects, designers, and engineers, and we can also bring our own team if you'd rather have design and construction under one contract.
